Job Description
Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to make a difference? Join our team and contribute to the future of fusion energy. As the Head of Safety Health and Environment (SHE), you will lead in developing a strong and proactive SHE culture and embed this across UKAEA, being supported by a strong team of 13 SHE professionals.
This is a brand new role as the SHE team is being re-organised along with a wider re-organisation of Assurance and Risk and also Quality as the UKAEA commits more resources into developing these functions as their own specialisms.
As the Head of Safety, Health and Environment, you have a fantastic opportunity to take control and nurture all things SHE related, building and embedding a first in safety culture and being given the mandate to drive the Development of the strategic agenda for the SHE across UKAEA, championing the delivery and, in the process, taking the organisation on a cultural improvement journey.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Act as the key advisor on Safety Health and Environment legislative and statuary compliance issues
- Manage, coach and lead the SHE Team, and develop and maintain technical and behavioural competencies to ensure the delivery of optimised advice and service to the business
- Lead the UKAEA in developing a strong and proactive SHE culture and embed it across UKAEA
- Represent UKAEA SHE Group nationally and internationally
- In conjunction with the Group Director of QSHE, Risk and Assurance, you will advise the board on all matters relating to SHE
Qualifications
Essential Requirements:
- NEBOSH Diploma (Occupational Health and Safety) minimum or equivalent
- Chartered membership of one or more of the Professional Organisations in Occupational Safety Health and Environment undertaking a scheme of Continuous Professional Development (e.g. CMIOSH status)
