The Role
The company has seen significant success and growth in recent years and is looking for a specialist Class 2 Registered Building Inspector. Responsibilities:
1. Uphold the group's quality (ISO9001) risk management and ensure compliance with all legislative requirements.
2. Ensure awareness and uphold best practices in respect of all risk management initiatives.
3. Undertake restricted activities in accordance with the RBI Code of Conduct for assigned projects.
4. Support and mentor less experienced technical staff to maintain standards and service levels.
5. Assist in the introduction/delivery of new products and services as required.
6. Assess applications.
7. Attend meetings, training sessions, and seminars as required.
8. Represent the business in a professional manner.
9. Manage a portfolio of projects within a geographical area.
10. Provide technical support and guidance to clients and less experienced team members.
11. Optimize inspection visits to sites and plan checking requirements.
12. Manage customer relationships to promote business development.
Experience and Qualifications Required:
1. Keen eye for detail and process-oriented.
2. Ability to make pragmatic decisions for safe and compliant buildings.
3. Ability to work with minimal supervision/remotely.
4. Commercial awareness.
5. Chartered or working towards full corporate membership of Chartered Institute of Building Engineers or Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.
6. Hold and maintain appropriate Technical Class 2 Registered Building Inspector (RBI) status.
7. Conversant with relevant legislation and technical guidance, including The Building Safety Act (2022).
8. Knowledge of fire safety and health and safety.
9. Understanding of the construction design process and RIBA Stages of work.
10. Knowledge of customer care and principles of equal opportunities in Building Control.
11. Track record in ensuring compliance with Building Regulations.
12. Experience with various types of buildings and projects.
13. Effective self-management of site inspections and reporting.
14. Experience in a building control environment.
15. Strong internal working relationships across all areas of the business.
16. Relationship management across teams and stakeholders.
17. Build and maintain client relationships with design and construction teams.
18. Assess compliance against regulations and legislation.
19. Plan checking across a wide range of project types.
