Job Title: Academy Assistant Goalkeeper Coach
Reporting to: Head of Coach & Player Development / Academy Goalkeeper Coach
Contract: Part-Time / Casual
Hours of work: 1 Training Session (minimum) and 1 Game (Sunday) per week
Location: Meadow Lane Stadium and Training Venues
An opportunity has arisen for an Academy Assistant Goalkeeper Coach to join our innovative and growing Category 3 Academy. They will deliver the coaching programme within individual, small group and team environments in line with the Game Model.
The Academy Assistant Goalkeeper Coach will ensure that sessions are Game Model reflective, engage in individual and small group sessions, in addition to contributing to larger group/team sessions. They will take the initiative to plan, frame, deliver and reflect in accordance with the Coaching Strategy, including clear collaboration with the Academy Goalkeeper Coach and relevant Team / ILP coaches per age group.
The Academy Assistant Goalkeeper Coach will ensure that match day coaching takes place every Sunday during the season for the goalkeepers playing at home. This will include a warm-up that is appropriate for all Goalkeepers together between the ages of 8 and 15, and then supporting the in-match development of the goalkeepers across all matches taking place, including clear collaboration with the Academy Goalkeeper Coach and relevant Team / ILP coaches per age group.
The successful candidate will be motivated and energised by working with young players, particularly ages 8 to 15, understand an age and stage appropriate team environment and show a desire to progress within an ever-growing high performance culture.
Key responsibilities:
1. Supporting the Academy Goalkeeper Coach with the development of the Academy Goalkeeping Game Model and Philosophy, whilst implementing this across the Under 9’s to B Team where and when appropriate.
2. There will be key administrative tasks involved within the role, meeting all required criteria of the EPPP.
3. To support the Academy Goalkeeper Coach to update the Football Intelligence Platform and ensure all players’ written multidisciplinary team reviews, session and game evaluations are completed.
4. Be responsible for conducting players’ in-person multidisciplinary reviews to aid feedback and support in the ongoing retention of players in the programme.
5. To be a key liaison for all Academy families, supporting the Player Care Officer and Head of Education and Welfare in our holistic approach to player development.
About The Candidate:
Knowledge and Experience:
1. UEFA B Licence (essential – or ongoing and therefore working towards)
2. UEFA Goalkeeping B Licence (essential – or ongoing and therefore working towards)
3. The FA Level 2 Emergency First Aid in Football (EFAiF) (essential – or personal commitment to complete the award)
4. Has completed the FA Safeguarding Children (essential)
5. Valid FA DBS or willing to undertake a DBS check before starting the role (essential)
