On behalf of our client, we are seeking to recruit a Payroll Officer on an initial 12-month contract. As the Payroll Officer, you will join a payroll team who focus on running the end-to-end payroll process in the UK as well as providing specific services in relation to the Executive population and Share Administration.
Role: Payroll Officer
Pay: £24 per hour Via Umbrella
Location: Broughton - Hybrid once trained
Contract: Monday - Friday 35 hours per week, 12 months
IR35 Status: Inside
Security Clearance: BPSS
Responsibilities
1. Be responsible for the accurate and timely running of all divisional payrolls from start to finish monthly.
2. Be responsible for ensuring that all divisional payroll accounts with HMRC are correct, investigating any misbalances, and dealing with remittances for all third parties.
3. Provide expertise on escalated complex issues and queries for the HR and Payroll processing teams.
4. Have a full understanding of the impact of Maternity/Paternity/Shared Parental leave/Sick pay on each divisional payroll to ensure compliance with statutory regulations.
5. Have a full understanding of the P11D & P60 processes for all divisions to ensure accountability for these key annual deliverables and deal with client and external body queries.
6. Deal with HMRC in relation to Tax and National Insurance queries, including building a relationship with the relevant CRM.
7. Be responsible for the contractual administration for the executive population using the Workday catch-up user role.
8. Be the focal point for managing and delivering the share scheme administration for all divisions.
9. Proactively identify process improvements, engage with the relevant key stakeholders, and own the full end-to-end process to ensure implementation.
10. Stay up to date on relevant legislation and ensure that any forthcoming changes and potential impacts are highlighted to the leadership team.
Essential Skills:
1. Understanding of payroll process for 500+ employees minimum.
2. SAP experience highly desirable.
3. Strong understanding of payroll legislation.
4. Experience within a payroll environment.
5. Experience of a computerised payroll system (SAP/Workday knowledge would be desirable).
6. Recognised payroll qualification (CIPP or equivalent) would be desirable.
7. A Levels or higher qualification would be advantageous.
8. Knowledge of PAYE, SMP, SPP, SSP, Student Loans, Pensions and other deductions.
9. Proven customer service experience both verbal and written.
