Our Nursing team provide a highstandard of care for to babies, children and young people with life-limitingand life-threatening conditions.

About us
We are currently seeking to recruit a qualified andexperienced Band 6 Deputy Lead Nurse to join our valued members of the clinicalcare team. As well as leading a small team of Nurses and HCAs you will join aunique and vibrant team providing symptom management, palliative and end oflife care and planned short breaks at the hospice. We offer 1:1 nursing to allbabies, children and young people at the hospice. As part of the care team youwill have the opportunity to work within the multidisciplinary team made up ofa variety of skilled members including Music therapists, complementarytherapists and our non- medical workforce team of ACPs.
Rainbows Hospice is available for families all year, 24hours a day, we therefore operate on a shift basis to provide the best possibleservice.

About the Role
As a Rainbows Band 6 Deputy Lead Nurse youll be responsiblefor line managing a small team of staff and identifying training anddevelopment needs through the appraisal process. You will provide shift byshift clinical leadership and act as Shift Co-ordinator as necessary, takingresponsibility for decisions made and for the management of staff on shift.
Key Duties Include:
Ensure team working principles are in placethroughout the shift.
Support the Lead Nurse and Head of Hospice andCommunity Services in their roles and promote the vision, mission and values ofthe Hospice.
Planning and implementing care for children andyoung people, with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions, within thehospice.
Assessing, planning, implementing and evaluatingnursing care of children and young people in partnership with them and theirparents/guardians
Providing excellent short break, palliative andend of life care at Rainbows in a family centred environment in conjunctionwith all members of the multi-disciplinary team
Ensuring all procedures are carried out inaccordance with local and national policies in force within the Hospice

Requirements:
As a Band 6 Deputy lead Nurse at Rainbows, you'll need to bequalified RSCN/RN (Child Branch)/RNLD/RGN with at least 3 years postregistration experience. Experience with children and/or young people (0-25years) with complex needs is also required for the role.
Palliative care experience is desirable, however specialisttraining and development opportunities will be provided. Excellentcommunication skills and the ability to demonstrate high standards of clinicalcare are essential. Further requirements can be found by downloading the PersonSpecification.
