Our successful candidate will need to demonstrate and evidence the ability to lead and manage post 16 learning with fantastic results, and display a thorough understanding of the skills priorities locally, regionally, and nationally.
You will be crucial in the development and design of education and embrace education policy and the demand for skills to meet the immediate and future needs of employers and the economy. As Vice Principal, you will additionally provide leadership across Student Services and work with the Director of Student Experience & Wellbeing to ensure all students and apprentices have a successful, safe, and positive journey at Chesterfield College.

Chesterfield College is a college of Further and Higher Education, providing education and training to school leavers and adults. The courses on offer cover a wide range of subject areas and industries and range from lower level options for those with basic skill levels to apprenticeships, short courses, mandatory training and university-level degrees and foundation degrees in partnership with the University of Derby and Sheffield Hallam University.
The college also operates the Learning Unlimited brand in areas such as Derby, Manchester and Nottingham, providing a range of training services to employers who want to develop the skills and knowledge of their workforce to increase productivity in their respective markets and sectors.
Main competitors in the Chesterfield area include local schools with sixth forms, other Further Education colleges such as Sheffield College, Derby College and West Notts College, and other training providers such as Babington, CT Skills and Juniper Training.
Over the past 12 months the college’s senior leadership team has undergone significant changes. New members of staff with a reputation for excellence and innovation in the sector have been recruited to help implement positive changes within the organisation, led by a Principal who is in the process of making positive and significant changes to quality, transparency and communication.
Investment in the college over the past year has included £750K in IT infrastructure and a new online HR system to enable staff based at different sites to easily access training, information on staff benefits and pay details and book annual training. With £17.2m recently secured through the Transformation Fund, the college is in the initial stages of creating an Advanced Manufacturing and Life Science Academy which will enable them to deliver a first-class experience for students and cater to the technological advancements and demands of the future workforce.
