Farnham Swimming Club (FSC), based on the Surrey/Hampshire border, is looking for an exceptional Assistant Head Coach to join our dynamic coaching team! We are looking for someone as enthusiastic and passionate about swimming as we are.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Head Coach, who is looking to develop the currently highly successful programme. They will work with swimmers with a range of abilities from early competitive through to swimmers at County, Regional and National standards, and would have a minimum of Swim England Swimming Coach Certificate/ASA Level 2 coaching qualification. They will have specific responsibility for coaching FSC’s top age group swimmers at County, Regional and National levels with a number of these current swimmers either having or showing the potential to have national success in the not-too-distant future.
To meet these objectives the Assistant Head Coach position is full-time, comprising approximately 15 hours poolside with additional hours for cover, open meets, regular meetings and admin. The successful applicant will also be responsible for cover and support with the National Youth and Senior programme on a weekly basis.
As a club, we will be keen to help a successful candidate develop by providing mentoring and a range of opportunities to optimise development.
The role is an ideal opportunity for a successful candidate to bring new ideas to a rapidly expanding team, a highly successful programme and a growing club as we continue to go from strength to strength. FSC now has over 350 members and had a record number of County, Regional, and National qualifiers in 2023/4.
We were also shortlisted at the Swim England National Awards for the Top Club category (2022) and produced multiple National Qualifiers for the British Championships and Summer / Winter Nationals in 2022, 2023, and 2024. These were the first National qualifiers in over a decade. At FSC, we are proud to be continuing to optimise performance for all members, regardless of their age and ability.
We can be flexible as to the role we offer. If an Assistant Head Coach role is not right for you, but you feel you are an enthusiastic developing Level 2-qualified coach keen for a lead performance squad responsibility and want the opportunity to be mentored by a highly experienced international level Head Coach, FSC is the place to be. Or if you’re a Level 3-qualified Senior Coach who wants reduced hours and wants to work in partnership with the Head Coach to bring new thoughts, ideas and experience to the table, this is also something we can accommodate.
