Carmichael UK are seeking a Design Engineer / Design Coordinator to work on a permanent basis in Snowdonia. As a Design Engineer, you will be managing design activities and deliverables to ensure that they are completed in line with the agreed programme and client requirements. You will also act as the technical lead for the permanent works design when a design manager isn't present.
About the role:
1. Manage the Technical Queries process, assigning actions and following up on responses.
2. Manage and communicate all design queries, comments, and information required from design workshops and meetings, keeping records.
3. Raise requests for further information internally and externally from the whole project team.
4. Support the Design Manager to ensure all design deliverables are provided in a timely manner as per the design programmes.
5. Review Designers' monthly reports and produce monthly reports on design progress and any other design-specific elements.
6. Manage and update the design deliverable schedule.
7. Review all design deliverables to ensure they are completed to the expected standard, challenging and resolving issues when they are not, including reviewing all drawings in line with the client's scope/requirements.
8. Attend interface meetings with external parties, keeping records of meetings and assigning/following up on actions related to the design.
9. Arrange internal design interface meetings with the construction department.
10. Ensure compliance with design management processes required by the contract.
11. Collaborate with the engagement of external suppliers/subcontractors.
12. Manage the provision of drawings to the project team document control.
13. Manage the BIM requirements for permanent and temporary works together with the BIM/CAD Technician.
14. Assist the Lead TWC as design lead for temporary works design packages for the project and ensure the Temporary Works Process is implemented and followed at all times.
About you:
1. Substantial construction and design experience.
2. Wide-ranging understanding and working knowledge of construction methods and outputs.
3. Exceptional know-how in implementing and promoting Digital Engineering practices in design as well as construction.
4. Experience in heavy civil engineering projects and tunnelling is advantageous.
Salary: GBP45,000 - GBP50,000.
Must be willing to work out of site 5 days a week in North Wales.
