Main duties of the job Accountable for the delivery of high-quality therapy care within a defined clinical area or pathway. Responsible as a first-contact clinician in consultant outpatient clinics for diagnosing the condition, screening for serious pathology and either booking for surgery, referring to another consultant or referring for conservative treatment. Responsible for providing expert clinical practice with advanced clinical reasoning and support to staff. Provide clinical leadership to develop staff within the remit. Lead evaluation and development of clinical practice within the specialism ensuring compliance with national and local guidelines and frameworks. Develop the evidence base for practice through audit, clinical effectiveness and research activity and support.
