Chilton Community Primary School - Stowmarket, Suffolk IP14 1NN £27,803 pro rata 31.25 hours per week for 39 weeks per year, 8.30am to 3.15pm Fixed Term for 39 weeks Reference: 6596 Required as soon as possible Role Overview: We are seeking a dynamic Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) with a keen interest in pastoral support to join our wonderful school. This role involves working across all key stages as required, providing both educational and pastoral support to our students. Key Responsibilities: Educational Support: Deliver planned lessons and activities. Assess, record, and report on pupil development, progress, and attainment. Provide short-term class cover as needed. Collaborate with staff and other professionals, sharing relevant pupil information. Attend weekly staff meetings. Pastoral Support: Identify and support children and families needing additional provision. Promote parental engagement and collaboration with support services. Advocate for children, ensuring their voices are heard. Offer support to families, signposting specialist services as needed. Act as the Young Carers Lead within the school. Liaise with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to address pastoral needs and make referrals. Make referrals to external agencies for family support. Safeguarding: Serve as an Alternate Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL). Attend relevant training and weekly safeguarding meetings. Pursue safeguarding referrals and work with multi-agency teams. Ensure staff are informed about safeguarding issues. Oversee the maintenance and security of safeguarding records. Attendance: Attend meetings to improve pupil attendance. Work with families and agencies to support improved attendance. Create case studies related to attendance and family support. Behaviour Management: Assist the SLT in managing behaviour across the school. Provide support to teachers needing behavioural interventions. Act as a point of contact for parents needing support with their children’s behaviour. Qualifications and Skills: Level 4/C or above in GCSE mathematics and English. HLTA status. Experience working in a primary school setting. Good communication and organisational skills. Knowledge of the National Curriculum. Effective behaviour management skills. Why Join Us?
