ACCOUNTABILITY: The Technical Manager is specifically accountable to the Group Technical Manager. KEY COMPTENCIES 1] Site Rules and Emergency Procedures 2] Food Safety System – Physical, Chemical, Microbiological and Allergen Risks 3] Process knowledge – Quality attributes, Advanced Food Hygiene 4] Operational Skills – Quality Manual procedures, HACCP 5] Managerial Skills – Management training RESPONSIBILITIES: The Technical Manager is specifically responsible for: 1) Taking the lead in developing the company’s Food Safety and Quality culture, liaising with other department Managers. 2) To review, develop and maintain the company’s Food Safety and Quality Management system including the review and development of Food Safety and Quality procedures. 3) To review, develop and maintain the companies HACCP system and to lead and develop the HACCP Team. 4) To development, maintain and report Key Performance Indicators based on customer requirements, Food Safety and Quality needs and the needs of the business. 5) To maintain company policies, including Food Safety & Quality policy, Allergen policy, Training policy and Brand Integrity policy. 6) To schedule and maintain the company’s Internal Audit System, perform Internal Audits and ensure the Internal Audit Team are performing at a competent level. 7) To ensure all Technical and Quality non-conformance corrective and preventative action are complete in good time, and to work with other departments to ensuring their non-conformance corrective and preventative actions are completed in good time. 8) To ensure the Technical department is audit ready at all time, in preparation for Internal, customer and third party audits. To liaise with other department Managers to ensure that are audit ready at all times. 9) The maintenance raw material, semi-processed and finished product specifications (including customer specifications) and, ensuring these are communicated and understood by all required departments. 10) The ensure the raw material and finished product sampling and testing program is in place and maintained for all routine Chemical, Microbiological and Nutritional Testing. 11) To schedule and maintain, based on risk assessment, the company’s environmental swabbing plan, ensuring swabs are taking on schedule and staff conducting swabbing are competent. 12) To review and maintain the Company’s Quality Assurance Manual. 13) To review and maintain the company’s Supplier and Raw Material Approval system, and liaising with the Procurement Team to ensure all suppliers and raw materials are approved before purchase. This will include site auditing of key suppliers as determined by risk assessment. 14) To build and maintain good business relationships with customers and suppliers. 15) To be first point of contact for all customer and supplier Technical enquires including customer complaints. 16) To maintain the company’s Pest Control System. 17) To develop and maintain the company’s Training Matrix and ensuring all CCP training is up-to-date. 18) To ensure the company is kept up-to-date with changes in legislation and customer codes of practice. 19) To Manage and develop a Team of QA Professionals. 20) Deputise for the Group Technical Manager for the Watts Farms Group, including the Farms and Catering Branch, when required. Any such other tasks as may be required from time to time by the Director and for which appropriate training will be provided
