We are looking for a dedicated staff nurse or operating department practitioner to join our Post Anaesthetic Care team (PACU), providing care to children in the immediate post-operative phase of their recovery.
Our department offers many services, including neurosurgery, spinal surgery, ENT, rigid endoscopy, gastroenterology, orthopaedics, trauma/major incidents, paediatric surgery, urology, thoracic surgery, plastics, maxillofacial surgery, and paediatric dentistry. With 9 theatres and a procedure room, we also have a dedicated Neurosurgery and Intraoperative MRI suite.

Main duties of the job
Reporting into the Clinical Lead, your responsibilities will include:
1. Provide post-surgery care to patients
2. Support junior nurses, operating department practitioners, and support staff.
3. Advocate for patients.
4. Work with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless care delivery for all patients.
5. Collaborate with clinical leads for training and professional development.
6. Contribute to the smooth operation of the department.

Person Specification
Qualifications & Training
* Degree or Diploma Level Education as Registered Nurse or ODP (RN Child / RSCN / RGN or ODP)
* Current registration with NMC/HCPC
* Teaching, mentoring and Assessors qualification
* Relevant Post Basic registration course Paediatric Life Support
Experience
* Ability to demonstrate a commitment to professional development
* Post-registration experience in paediatric speciality Mentorship experience
Knowledge & Skills
* Role of Theatre Practitioner Accountability and Own limitations
* Health & Safety Safe Practices e.g. Lifting and Handling, Sharps, COSHH
* Principles of Infection Control
* Principles of Safeguarding of children
* Effective verbal and written communication skills
* Ability to respect the cultural, social and religious diversity within society
* Able to use own initiative
