The Biology and Science departments at Notre Dame Catholic Sixth Form College are each extremely high performing with a track record of achieving Outstanding ALPs value added for over the last three years. The Biology department is lively, dynamic and progressive in terms of their approach to teaching and learning. The department offers A Level Biology and contributes to the T Level Health delivery. In September 2024 the department also launched A Level Environmental Science developing students in response to the local and national ‘Green Skills’ needs and also a commitment to championing sustainability. Over 500 students study A Level Biology showing the strength of the subject in the college and its track record of student success. The Applied Science department offers BTEC Level 3 and BTEC Level 2 Applied Science and is highly popular.
The department has made a major contribution to the academic standing of the College, both locally and nationally. We have been particularly successful every year in terms of the Biology Olympiad and are proud of our students achievements at Bronze, Silver and Gold award level.
There is a friendly and professional atmosphere within the department and across all the science departments, with a strong emphasis on encouraging a positive rapport between staff and students in the pursuit of academic success. Within the departments there is a wealth of experience and professional knowledge and an encouragement to undertake CPD. We would welcome applications from recently qualified teachers and ECTs.
