The role:
We are looking for a Data Manager for our Data and Applications team. The role will assume responsibility for the management of the Data and Applications team and work with clients to understand their business challenges and identify how Data & AI can add strategic value to drive business success.
The ideal candidate will be extremely motivated to lead a team in a hybrid and collaborative environment, engage with clients and stakeholders, and to manage deliverables ensuring that project commitments are met on time and to the highest standard.
Assist Digital offers hybrid working with staff being able to work flexibly between our office in London and home. It is expected that the post holder would work in the office at least 2 days per week (travel expenses will be paid for staff living outside a 60-mile radius of the London office).
Reporting to: Head of CX and Data
Responsible for: Data Analysts (x2), Developers (x2) and BI Consultant (x1) in the Data and Applications team
Key technical requirements:
* Significant data analytics/science experience managing a wide range of systems and integrations
* Proficiency in Python or R and familiarity with big data technologies and cloud platforms
* Experience managing a Microsoft SQL Server environment
* Familiar with statistical packages for analysing datasets (e.g. Excel, SPSS, SAS)
* Expert at creating and maintaining dashboards and reports to monitor key performance indicators.
* Able to translate complex analytical insights into actionable recommendations, presenting them to clients/stakeholders/ SLT to inform critical business decisions.
* To Lead on Data & AI product design and development by identifying trends and insights to develop and innovate new data products and AI solutions to enhance our client value proposition.
* To work closely with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to aid the development of the overall vision and direction for Assist Digital UK.
Key management responsibilities:
* Manage and lead a team in a collaborative environment that encourages high performance and excellence in client delivery. Define and communicate a clear vision and strategy for the Date and Application Team, ensuring alignment with organisational goals while inspiring the team to innovate and excel.
* Provide ongoing mentorship, coaching, and learning and development opportunities to encourage growth and enhance team performance. Create a collaborative and high-performance team culture that attracts top talent and encourages long-term career progression and development within the team.
* Act as a highly trusted advisor and thought leader across the organisation, particularly with the Senior Leadership Team in the UK, customers and stakeholders to identify key data initiatives and priorities to support data-driven decision-making.
Essential skills:
* A consulting background
* Experience of working with Tableau (or Power BI, Qlik)
* Experience working with relational databases and advanced SQL querying
* Experience working with Data Warehousing (Snowflake, Redshift)
* Degree in computer science or mathematics, or equivalent experience
* Excellent numerical and analytical skills
* High level of industry and business acumen
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organisation, from junior analysts to members of the SLT.
* Highly proactive and able to deal with competing deadlines
* Expert decision maker and problem solver with the ability to deal with ambiguity
