Design Manager - Plymouth Rate: £350 per day Contract Role- 3 months Our client, a leading UK construction main contractor, is seeking an experienced Design Manager to oversee the design process for a large-scale hospital project in Plymouth. This role will involve managing the design from tender stage through to the start of construction, ensuring cost-effective and innovative solutions while maintaining project efficiency and compliance with regulations. Key Responsibilities: Develop innovative design solutions aligned with client requirements. Manage client relationships and expectations throughout the design phase. Coordinate with subcontractors, design teams, and key stakeholders to resolve any design queries. Oversee contractor proposals, tender documentation, and design submissions. Apply value engineering principles to ensure cost-effective design solutions. Identify and mitigate design risks, ensuring seamless project execution. Lead design team meetings and ensure timely delivery of design information. Support bid management processes from initial enquiry to contract award. Ensure compliance with building regulations, BREEAM, and Passivhaus standards. Requirements: Degree qualified in a relevant construction discipline (essential). Strong technical construction knowledge and understanding of building regulations. Proven experience in design management within large-scale construction projects. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) is essential. Experience with Powerproject Teamplan or similar planning software (desirable). Knowledge of estimating software such as Causeway (desirable). Professional qualification (e.g., MCIOB) is advantageous. Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
