The Science, Technology, Research and Analysis (STAR) Group sits at the heart of the Home Office. The group ensures the best evidence and analysis are used to address the strategic issues facing the department. We also provide the science, technology, data, and international insights and collaboration capabilities to drive delivery.
The Performance Reporting & Analysis Unit (PRAU) is part of the Home Office Analysis & Insight Directorate. We support Ministers, the Executive Committee, Policy and Operational leads and other analytical functions with the management information (MI) that they need, as well as producing data for publication and other forms of external release.
The Unit also provides advice and support to others in the Department on how to make best use of performance information and is leading on the transformation of MI systems and capabilities, using modern technologies and tools like Microsoft PowerBI to improve the insight available. Our main focus is providing reporting and analysis of performance relating to immigration and passports.
These posts provide an opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment, supporting customers within the Home Office and beyond with insightful and accurate management information.
The job holders will hold responsibility for delivery of regular and ad-hoc business reporting requirements, as well as playing a key role in embedding new technologies and shaping the future delivery of MI services, particularly through the introduction of Microsoft PowerBI products.
Successful candidates will be working closely with a specific operational area. They will build a close relationship with and understanding of their business area, in order to ensure that reporting is accurate and informative and supports operational areas in their challenging and critical work. Training and support on our methods and tooling will be provided.

Work Pattern
These roles are available on a full-time basis with the option of compressed hours working. These roles are also suitable for part-time working hours, with a minimum requirement to work 4 days per week due to business requirements.
Travel
Post holders will need to agree a base location of either Croydon, Sheffield, Liverpool (or Warehouse K in London for one post - responsible for HM Passport Office (HMPO) reporting) with a requirement for attendance at team events at other base locations (up to monthly depending on team).
