WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
RBSL has a fantastic opportunity for a Programme Director on the Challenger 3 Programme. The role is Telford based, and it is expected that the individual will be able to work onsite 4 days per week.
The successful incumbent will have responsibility for the delivery of the overall CR3 Programme; accountable for time, cost and performance across the portfolio.
Reporting to the Managing Director, this is a critical senior leadership role within RBSL, driving performance and delivery as overall industry programme sponsor and delivering a critical capability into the British Army.
The responsibilities of the CR3 Programme Director include:
Program Management and Governance
* Lead the end-to-end delivery of the CR3 Programme, ensuring all milestones, objectives and deliverables are met.
* Lead and maintain the overall Programme governance framework, including development of the overall Programme schedule, establishing authorised budgets, maintain and release risk contingencies, chairing programme reviews, manage staffing requirements and allocating resources to various phases and elements of the Programme;
* Ensure Contract performance meets Customer’s expectations and respond to changes in Customer’s requirements when required;
* Ensure compliance and maintaining of standards as listed and required by each programme;
* Participate in the negotiation of contract and significant changes in project specification or scope;
* Stay abreast of or, where appropriate, report progress to the customer at significant project milestones;
* Effectively manage programme risks and opportunities, ensuring effective mitigation and capture plans are in place to address cost, schedule, and performance challenges.
* Manage the Project Management team and overall organisation design, providing opportunities for growth and managing development plans across the Programme.
Relationship Management
* Maintain and develop high quality relationships with management, the leadership team and staff of RBSL, and Rheinmetall Group of companies in the UK and Germany and BAE Systems, other suppliers and sub-contractors to ensure quality and timely delivery of program outcomes;
* Act as key liaison between RBSL and MOD programme sponsor / customer and key stakeholders on all significant operational and programme execution matters, influencing key decisions and managing issues and expectations across the enterprise.
Leadership and Management
* Provide overall cross-functional leadership to the Programme, championing the CR3 Programme at a business and enterprise level.
* Provide leadership to all areas of the Programme, through effective coaching and constructive feedback on an individual and on-going basis to maximize performance and development of team members and enable them to take an active role in improving their own performance.
* Build and manage an effective leadership across multiple direct and indirect functions.
* Ensure staff compliance with RBSL policies, procedures and the expected behavioural standards;
* Ensure all management, employees and contractors comply with and demonstrate appropriate workplace health and safety practices;
* Escalate any issues to senior management accordingly.
Strategic Planning
* In collaboration with the senior leadership team contribute to the development and execution of RBSL’s strategic plan;
* In collaboration with the Head of BD / Sales identify opportunities to pursue that are complementary to RBSL’s strategic plan and have the potential to increase its business base.
WHAT QUALIFICATIONS YOU SHOULD HAVE
* Significant experience in leading large complex projects;
* Highly developed interpersonal, influencing and negotiation skills at a senior level and achievements in cultivating productive working relationships, partnerships and teamwork;
* Experience in dealing with the UK-MoD senior management;
* Experience in the principles of financial management of major programmes, with a focus on cost control and financial reporting.
* Extensive experience in senior program management roles including program development lifecycle, statement of work generation, risk management, resource loaded integrated master schedules, requirement change management, Earned Value planning/tracking/reporting, metrics management and subcontract management;
* Experience in preparing and evaluating proposals, estimates, technical documents and other contract deliverable items;
* Working knowledge of manufacturing operations and logistics;
* Working knowledge of UK-MOD contract and procurement guidelines;
* Previous experience leading a geographically dispersed team including matrixed and multi-functional teams;
* Tertiary qualifications in Business, Commerce, Engineering or any related discipline and hold certification as a Program Management Professional (PMP or PMI);
* Have attained a Master of Business Administration (MBA or project management or equivalent) desirable;
* UK Citizen with the ability to attain full security clearance;
* The ability to speak German desirable.
