Carmcichael UK are seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join us at Devonport Royal Dockyard, Plymouth where we are the preferred contractor to carry out heavy civil engineering construction.
Due to the site being a high Security Military Naval base, additional security checks will need to be made – BPSS level of security clearance is required. These checks can take 4 weeks - and sometimes more.
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the following:
Management of a £40m package of works on a Nuclear licensed site including the management of a team of junior QS’ mentoring and nurturing their development to assist with the following tasks where applicable.
Provide commercial input including financial and contractual performance forecasts to the management team. Help ensure that business targets and KPI’s are met / exceeded.
Ensure cash flow is maximised including ensuring payments are made and received on time.
Preparation and review of monthly cost reports for area, together with review of results and consideration of trends with other contract team members
Forecasting and monitoring spend against approved Client budgets.
Physical measurement of works and agreement of same with client and subcontractors.
Agreement of certification and payment of subcontractor accounts - monitoring of such accounts against forecasts
Implementation and compliance with the contract change control procedure and monitoring thereof including communications to client as appropriate.
Managing sub-contractors including sending out enquiries, collating prices, comparing with tender, negotiation, order placement, agreement of account and payment
To assess, review and mitigate commercial and contractual risks and implement Kier Group's policies for risk management.
Client facing role so good communication skills are essential.
Who are we looking for?
Fully converse and experience of NEC Contracts
Experience with the use of CEMAR desired but not essential
Experience working with Coins / Causeway accounting systems.
Team player and working with a highly skilled diverse team.
Holder of a Full UK Drivers Licence
Educated to Degree level, or equivalent experience.
Experience within a similar role
Confident IT skills, proficient in the use of MS Office in particular Excel
Excellent Communication skills both written and verbally.
Must be an excellent organiser with proven time management skills.
Professional Accreditation desired eg. RICS, ICE etc
