Kennedys is looking to recruit a Working Capital Assistant Manager to join our global Finance team based in Chelmsford. The successful applicant will contribute to the effectiveness of the Finance department by providing a comprehensive and efficient service to internal and external clients in order that the business objectives of the firm and the department are achieved.
Team
Kennedys Finance team supports the firm globally producing timely and accurate financial and management information, reporting solutions and operational support to maintain the high standard of service offered to the firm's internal and external clients.
Our Finance team is made up of Financial Control, Financial Planning and Reporting, Management Accountants, Working Capital Management, Legal Cashiers, and a Master Data Management Team. Our UK Finance team is based in Chelmsford and London and has a presence in eight global offices.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and develop a team that provides proactive transactional support for billing and collections, ensuring an efficient and effective billing solution, and maximizing collections to actively support the reduction of lockup.
* Develop strong relationships at Team Leader/Partner level, leading and/or supporting the team with regular lockup reviews, pursuing billing opportunities and specific actions to accelerate collections.
* Work collectively with other Assistant Managers and the team to ensure that all queries and issues are resolved, utilizing the combined knowledge and resources in the Working Capital Management and wider Finance team.
* Manage staffing issues regarding holiday & sickness cover, performance, and recruitment in a collaborative and consistent manner.
* Monitor team and individual performance to ensure the delivery of a first-class service across the firm.
* Ensure a high standard of service to the firm's internal clients to assist in developing the professional reputation of the department.
* Develop, motivate, mentor, and coach team members.
* Mentor and develop team members to problem-solve and aspire to stand out as SMEs and future leaders within the team.
Required Experience
* Demonstrable experience of leading transactional teams covering billing and/or collections with a strong track record in goal setting, performance management, recruiting, training, and disciplinary actions.
* Advanced Excel and reporting skills: Ability to streamline data reporting to internal and external customers into meaningful information, report writing, and data trend analysis. Proficient in Word and PowerPoint for presentation of monthly numbers.
* Experience in legal and insurance sectors is beneficial, but a strong target-driven, commercial mindset is key.
* Flexible and adaptable to deal with changing requirements, able to balance competing priorities and deliver in line with management expectations.
* Can-do attitude with excellent communication and relationship-building skills. Encourage the team to adopt the same can-do attitude to problem-solving for both internal and external issues.
