Individuals with experience of working with disabilities and behaviours that may challenge are required to work with an 8-year-old boy who has complex needs including Autism, ADHD, tics, and anxiety. Support needed with personal care.
This young person is very energetic and has lots of interests including gaming (special interest), Lego, sharks, space (black holes), and enjoys physical/sensory activities e.g. swings, the park, climbing, jumping, soft-play, and swimming.
The family are looking for someone who can help to build their son’s confidence with an adult outside of the family home and for someone who is genuinely interested in being a key person in this young person’s life.
The right candidate must be willing to build a relationship with the young person and have knowledge of demand avoidance in neurodivergent individuals and working collaboratively, or be willing to learn.
The young person is in receipt of an Education Other Than at School (EOTAS) package and employed hours can be used flexibly in agreement between the successful applicant and the family.
The candidate must be a car owner and a full driving licence is essential.
DBS/Reference checks will be required for this post – Cost to be met by the local authority.
Children and Young People, Specialist Services Direct Payments is an in-house service provided by the East Riding of Yorkshire Council to support families of Children and Young People with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities to fulfil their potential and aspirations.
While caring experience is always useful, you don’t necessarily need to have worked in care to be a great Direct Payment Worker; the right attitude and a person-centred approach is more important.

Some travel across East Riding of Yorkshire may be required; applicants must be able to transport themselves.
