With a growing focus on health and safety, we’re seeking an experienced and proactive Health and Safety Officer to ensure compliance and promote a culture of safety across all our operations, from reactive emergency works to surveyor site visits. Role Overview As the Health and Safety Officer, you will oversee the health and safety of a diverse national team, including tradesmen completing reactive and emergency works, field-based surveyors, and claims handlers working in residential environments. You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation, delivering training, and maintaining high safety standards across all operations. This is a varied role requiring frequent site visits, risk assessments, and hands-on support. Key Responsibilities Health and Safety Compliance Ensure all operations comply with current health and safety legislation and company policies. Conduct audits, inspections, and risk assessments for tradesmen, surveyors, and claims handlers working in residential environments. Maintain and update safety records, ensuring they are accurate and accessible. Policy Development and Implementation Develop and manage health and safety policies tailored to operations in residential properties and field-based roles. Update policies and procedures in line with changing legislation and industry best practices. Training and Awareness Deliver tailored health and safety inductions and ongoing training programs for tradesmen, surveyors, and claims handlers. Foster a culture of safety awareness and best practices across all teams. Incident Management Investigate and document accidents, incidents, and near misses, ensuring thorough root-cause analysis. Implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence and share lessons learned across teams. Collaboration and Oversight Work closely with tradesmen, supervisors, and field operatives completing emergency and reactive works. Provide oversight for field-based surveyors and claims handlers, addressing specific health and safety concerns. Liaise with senior management and external regulatory bodies as required. Required Skills and Qualifications NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent) is essential. IOSHH membership (or working towards it) is desirable. CDM knowledge and experience desirable. Proven experience as a Health and Safety Officer, ideally in residential environments or reactive/emergency work settings. Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and regulations. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with a wide range of stakeholders. Analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a proactive approach to managing risks. Willingness to travel frequently across England, Scotland and Wales as part of the role. Valid UK driving license. Why Join Us?
