In today’s world it’s important to work for a company that has clear purpose, giving back to communities and supporting what is truly important in the world.
When considering a career move it’s vital to work for a business that is aligned to your values and goals, a place where you can belong. See what WSP stands for in 2024 and beyond.
This role is based in Manchester city centre with the flexibility of hybrid working between this location and home.
Your new role, what's involved?
* As Junior Land Consultant based in Manchester, you will be directly supporting the wider team in the identification of landowners, occupiers and other parties that hold a legal interest in land, through research and interpretation.
* You will also support our teams in the delivery of land access, landowner engagement, stakeholder engagement, and supporting projects through to the consenting stages/statutory processes.
* Contribute to the WSP Land Team delivery and success of high-profile infrastructure projects within England and the wider UK and Ireland business. You will be supporting projects in multiple sectors, including the Energy sector, where the team supports the development of critical infrastructure that is crucial for the Net Zero economy.
Your team
* The opportunity sits within our Land team in England, which is currently made up of land consultants, property specialists and utility and topographical surveyors working across our UK offices.
* We work closely with our 250 Land colleagues across the UK and Ireland delivering land services on a variety of projects across the Energy, Water, Road, Rail and Active-Travel sectors.
* We are the largest Land Referencing business in the UK, having delivered high profile projects such as HS2.
* We actively support people in achieving professional accreditations and have Chartered Geographers (CGeog), Chartered Town Planners (RTPI) and Chartered Surveyors (MRICS) who can support your career progression.
* We have multiple clients in the Transport, Energy, Rail and Local Authority Sectors. Specifically, you will be supporting infrastructure projects that are critical for the deployment of renewable energy, to help the UK and Ireland economies to achieve net zero carbon emissions.
* This role will report to a Consultant / Senior Land Consultant within the Land Team for WSP in UK.
* Full training will be provided combined with learning on-the-job as part of our projects.
We'd love to hear from you if you have:
* Recently graduated with a degree in geography or another relevant discipline which has provided you with an understanding of land-use and/or landownership in the UK.
* Demonstrable experience of desktop researching and problem-solving, so that you can apply your skills to the process of identifying landowners/occupiers, land interests and rights in land.
* The role will require visits to sites as part of a team, to speak with landowners and stakeholders. This will involve periods staying away from home (accommodation and expenses are provided).
* Good communication and organisational skills, with demonstrable experience in managing data.
* A degree of comfort in reading and using maps in a technical way and interrogating large datasets.
* Excellent written/verbal communication skills, with a comfort in being able to write and articulate your findings.
* Experience using MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams).
* A full drivers’ licence is essential.
