We are looking for an enthusiastic Neurodevelopmental Practitioner from a health/social care professional background (e.g. Speech and language therapy, Occupational Therapy, nursing, social work) to join our friendly and innovative multi-agency Neurodevelopmental Assessment Team.
The team offers evidence-based diagnostic assessments in line with NICE guidance to children and young people under 18 where there are concerns regarding Autism or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.
This post would suit those with an interest in neurodiversity, who love using their assessment and observation skills to formulate complex presentations, enjoy working as part of a multidisciplinary team and are comfortable with writing diagnostic reports. The post also provides opportunities to develop skills in supervision, teaching and training and to be part of service development.
The service offers a wide range of development opportunities and is committed to the career development of its staff. All relevant training will be offered as necessary (e.g. ADOS and QB training) and further CPD opportunities are encouraged. Clinical supervision will be provided by one of the Senior clinicians.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will be involved in all aspects of the assessment process and will be a fully integrated member of our friendly and welcoming multidisciplinary team, working alongside our Clinical Psychologists, Speech and Language Therapists, Specialist Mental Health Practitioners, Psychiatrist, Assistant Psychologists and Support Worker.
The role includes using high level assessment and formulation skills, using observation and activity-based interactions in clinic and also at times in school, using formal testing measures such as ADOS and QB test to better understand a child's presentation, writing diagnostic assessment reports, supervision of healthcare support workers, contributing to multidisciplinary team meetings, involvement in the development of post diagnostic workshops and groups and being involved in service development.

Job responsibilities
To participate in the organisation, coordination, development and provision of the Kirklees Children's Neurodevelopmental Assessment Service to ensure the provision of an efficient, high quality service.
This job description is an outline of the main duties of the post. The post holder will be required to undertake other duties commensurate with the grade as directed.
The content of this post will be reviewed in consultation with the post holder when necessary and in line with the service developments.
To provide clinical expertise on assessment, diagnosis and management of children with neurodevelopmental conditions as part of the multidisciplinary team.
To work independently and as part of a team to manage a caseload and to promote efficient movement through the pathway.
To provide clinical expertise to the multidisciplinary team to inform their decision making and to provide advice and guidance to carers, non-clinical staff or members of other professions, who may be influenced by this and to maintain professional relationships with relevant others, working as part of the wider team.
To participate in the planning and implementation of the day to day operation of the Kirklees Children's Neurodevelopmental Assessment Service to this client group.
To prepare, implement and evaluate neurodevelopmental assessments for clients to ensure the delivery of designated standards of care consistent with departmental policies and professional guidelines.
To develop, write, deliver and evaluate training packages with access to specialist support as required to parents, carers, other professional groups.
To provide mentoring, clinical supervision, peer support and joint visits for professionals and assistants relevant to this clinical area.
To assist in the training and supervision of assistants and students from various professions and to be involved in the provision of full-time student placements in accordance with professional guidelines.
To participate in the development of innovations in the Calderdale Children's Neurodevelopmental Assessment Service and related service delivery issues, risk management, quality standard setting and clinical effectiveness.
To maintain accurate and concise clinical records, providing appropriate reports, attend case conferences and reviews and to provide statistical information to facilitate future business planning in line with Trust guidelines.
To reflect on practice, both individually and with peers to identify own strengths and needs, demonstrate Continuing Professional Development and to maintain a portfolio or equivalent in line with professional and Trust guidelines.
To work within the confines of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
