Main duties of the job
As a Dental Clerical Offer you will be the first point of contact for patients and visitors at one of our Dental clinics. (Newstead House, Pontefract Health Centre, Castleford Health Centre and Church View - South Kirkby)
You will greet patients and book them in for their appointment, completing any forms needed. Answering the telephone and dealing with enquiries. Updating the computer system with new referrals. Booking, amending and cancelling appointments in line with the trusts policy.
Use filing systems, and spreadsheets to update patient information.

Job description
Job responsibilities
1. To welcome all patients and visitors
2. The post holder will be responsible for designated clerical and reception duties in the service
3. To monitor and respond to incoming mail on the Community Dental reception email.
4. Promote effective customer focused communication with patients and service users.
5. To respond to telephone and face to face enquiries complying with service guidance.
6. Request, cancel and rearrange appointments in line with local and national targets.
7. To assist with the confidential management of all types of patient record and ensure that all documentation is returned to the appropriate department.
8. To be responsible for the accurate and timely storing, scanning of records, referral letters.
9. To report maintenance and domestic repairs to appropriate departments on instruction from the Community Dental Service Facilitator.
10. Assist with the preparation of patient records and day lists for each clinical session.
11. Operate bespoke departmental computer system ensuring correct data is held, and updated as necessary.
12. Responsible for handling cash and processing dental payments.
13. The post holder will give relevant assistance and training as and when required to support all colleagues.
14. To arrange transport as necessary for the patient in accordance with requirements of the service.
15. To carry out general administration duties and provide clerical assistance, as required.
16. Ensure that all dental records are tracked and booked using the electronic File Tracker computer system within Community Dental Service.
17. Receive, sort and distribute goods and post delivered to the service.
18. Attend regular departmental meetings.

Essential
19. Good general education to include CSE or GCSE in English Language and Maths or equivalent/experience

20. NVQ Level 2 qualification in related subject
21. IT skills qualifications; CLAIT or ECDL computer course
