Maths Graduate Teaching Assistant – Full-Time Position in Levenshulme
Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated Maths Graduate Teaching Assistant for a full-time position at an Ofsted-rated "Good" secondary school in Levenshulme. This role starts in December and continues through the end of the academic year, with the potential to become permanent based on performance. Weekly pay is between £419.25 and £500.
Role Overview:
This is an excellent opportunity for a maths graduate interested in gaining experience in education and supporting students in their mathematical understanding and confidence. The role focuses on both academic and mentoring support, working alongside teachers to help students of varying abilities achieve their potential in mathematics.
Key Responsibilities:
* Individual and Small Group Support: Work closely with students needing additional help in maths, offering targeted support to improve their understanding and proficiency. Engage students in one-on-one or small group settings to reinforce concepts, assist with problem-solving, and prepare for assessments.
* Classroom Assistance: Support the lead teacher in maintaining an engaging and orderly classroom environment, ensuring that all students have the resources they need and are focused on their learning.
* Intervention Programs: Assist with tailored intervention programs for students who may be underperforming or struggling with specific aspects of the curriculum. Implement strategies to support student progress in areas like algebra, geometry, and numeracy.
* Progress Monitoring: Track and document students’ academic performance, including improvement in skills and areas requiring additional support. Provide feedback to teachers to assist in shaping lesson plans and targeted intervention.
* Academic Mentorship: Act as a role model and mentor for students, promoting a positive attitude toward maths and encouraging their interest in STEM fields. Help build students’ confidence, perseverance, and problem-solving skills.
* Resource Preparation: Help prepare materials and resources, such as practice exercises, revision tools, and visual aids, to support effective teaching and engagement in the subject.
* Extra-Curricular Support: Support students in after-school or lunchtime maths clubs, helping those interested in further developing their maths skills or preparing for exams.
* Exam Preparation: Guide students through revision sessions, providing them with strategies for effective exam techniques, time management, and understanding common exam questions.
