Purpose of the Role
We’re hiring a Senior UX Researcher to join our close-knit Optimisation & UX team. You’ll work closely with senior leads within our fastest growing Insights specialism within the department, leading a team of researchers and collaborating with data analysts, creating customer focused strategies to improve our client’s website experiences. We offer the position on a hybrid working basis, between home and one of our six regional offices in the UK.
Job description
You will lead our team of UX Researchers that work as part of the Insights function (combined with Data Insights), forming our Optimisation & UX department, to offer end-to-end website optimisation across clients. Whilst you will be the senior escalation point for your team and products, you will have the support of the senior leadership team and other Directors, meaning you will have the freedom to make your mark on our department, but in a supportive environment.
As UX Research Senior Manager, your focus will be to:
1. Continue to develop our strategy to integrate our data and research methodologies to deliver rich, user-led insights, collaborating with the Data Insights Senior Manager and Insights Director.
2. Oversee delivery of our research programmes and projects delivered by the specialist team members, ensuring strong practices and methodologies, high quality and insightful presentations and documents which are suitable for a range of client stakeholder seniorities (C-suite to day-to-day leads), and continually driving cutting edge research methods to solve key client problem statements and objectives.
3. Lead research programmes and projects for selective top tier and important clients for our team, including planning activity and leading a wider team of UX Executives and Assistants to achieve our clients’ objectives.
4. Plan, design and conduct research projects using a range of quantitative and qualitative methods to gain a true understanding our clients’ products and customers. This could include 1:1 moderated and unmoderated research, polls and surveys, heuristic evaluations, usability testing, eye tracking and card-sorting, amongst other.
5. Providing guidance, training and personal development planning to junior members of the team, ensuring that their works meets the required quality standards and their ongoing career development.
6. Lead to develop our research capabilities and improve our ways of working. This could be through onboarding new tools, providing training or developing new approaches.
7. Support the growth of our Insights department alongside your counterpart in Data Insights and the Insight Director. Generate client revenue by working across current clients, bringing in new business and finding opportunities to work collaboratively with other channels across our Digital community and the wider dentsu network.
8. Work with our Product and Growth teams to continually research new and emerging methodologies and technologies, always considering how we can develop our skills and/or partnerships to push our technical capabilities further ahead.
9. Represent the Research team and showcase our capabilities across dentsu and within the wider industry, establishing and growing our reputation as market leaders in the channel.
10. Lead the Research team in being ever-present within the research/UX industry and community outside dentsu, bringing the latest trends, practices and innovations back to our teams and considering how we adopt within our services and products.
11. Senior escalation point for Research and wider Insights team when required by clients or wider dentsu teams.
It is also important that this role helps drive several people centred activities, including:
1. Identifying and embedding a set of unifying behaviours built towards performance and ‘Best in Class’ as part of our DNA.
2. Establishing and championing the Optimisation & UX team as a ‘Force for Good’ via initiatives around equality, diversity, inclusion, work-life balance, mental health, and CSR.
3. Establishing, championing, and ensuring the longevity of an ongoing programme of marketing, events, initiatives, and social activities to help establish and define a rich agency/team culture.
Candidate Profile
The successful candidate will need to make sure their team and product are providing value to clients and driving income growth year on year:
1. Ability to lead manage and develop specialist researcher. Collaborative in your nature, working closely with leaders within the Insights department, wider Strategy, Design and Development leaders that make up our Optimisation & UX specialism, as well as the wider Digital Experience community that we form part of.
2. Passionate about customer behaviour, optimising online experiences and an interest in wider digital marketing activity.
3. Experience with research methodologies such as polls/surveys, remote research, moderated research, guerrilla research, customer interviews, desk research etc.
4. Ability to analyse research and turn findings into insights and trends, combining with data insights to form rich, deep understanding of user and audience behaviours.
5. Experience of digital marketing, especially UX or CRO
6. Desire to continually learn and develop, either through guidance from the leadership team, or making the most of the many training opportunities available at dentsu.
7. Excellent communication skills, being able to communicate with senior stakeholders across clients, Optimisation & UX teams and wider UK Media teams.
Nice to have:
We prioritise people that have the right attitude and a hunger to learn and develop, however experience in any of the below disciplines might improve your chances of recruitment:
1. Awareness of UX design principles and ability to create designs using Adobe XD, Figma or alternate tool.
2. Knowledge of website management, either ecommerce trading, content creation or lead generation.
3. Experience of using web analytics tools such as Google Analytics and Adobe Analytics
4. Capability to analyse data and uncover insights and trends.
5. Awareness of CRO, UX, Content, website development, SEO, Paid Search and other forms of digital marketing.
6. Ability to analyse data and uncover insights and trends, and the capability to coach others how to do this.
7. History of building relationships with external partners, such as tool providers, service providers or other agencies.
