Assistant Accountant
Location: Rugby moving to Coventry
Please note: our offices are currently based in Rugby however will be moving to Coventry (M6 J2) later in the year.

This role offers a hybrid working arrangement. During the training period, you will be expected to attend the office five days a week to ensure consistency and a smooth onboarding process.
To have a successful application, you will have:
* Graduate OR already in a finance role
* Part qualified working towards a professional finance qualification such as AAT, CIMA, ACCA, or equivalent
* This role will be a study supported role and the successful candidate would be expected to work towards gaining CIMA or ACCA
* Previous experience in either a similar role is ideal but not necessary or be ready to step into this role as part of personal development
* Ability to demonstrate good accounting knowledge and skills
* Experience of working with COINS ideally, or any other ERP platform would be advantageous, but is not necessary
* Experienced in Microsoft office products with intermediate/advanced skills in Excel
* Excellent time management skills and ability to hit deadlines adopting a flexible approach to meet the needs of the business
* Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to interact with staff at all levels
* Excellent attention to detail
* Motivation to deliver an excellent service
* Ability to work on own initiative when expected and as part of a team
The role:
As a valued member of the Reporting Team, you will be responsible for supporting our Finance Managers in the areas of tax & reporting. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, assisting with:
* Half year and year end reporting
* Interim and year end external audit
* VAT returns, reports and monitoring of reverse charge end user register
* Office for National Statistic questionnaires
* Subcontractor authorisation maintenance and new customer set ups
* Tax pack overhead analysis
* Lease accounting
* Month end ledger procedures
* Journal preparation & posting
* Documenting processes and procedures
* Selected balance sheet reconciliations
* COINS reporting
* Other projects and ad hoc work as required
Predominately based in our Rugby Head Office (Coventry relocation Q4 2025), we are made up of a team of six, supporting the wider Construction & Infrastructure businesses, and broader Morgan Sindall Group where applicable, with management and financial information.
