Who You Are You are a qualified and registered social worker with at least 3 years of experience, particularly knowledgeable in child care legislation and care planning, with prior experience in fostering services, including the completion of Form F assessments. You possess excellent communication and administrative skills, and are well-versed in National Minimum Standards for Fostering Services. You are able to conduct thorough, evidence-based assessments, and have experience engaging with children, young people, and working in group settings. You also hold a CQSW, DipSW, or BA in Social Work, and are registered with the Care Council for Wales/GSCC. A clean and enhanced CRB check, a driving license, and appropriate insurance are requisite for this role. What the Job Involves As an Independent Social Worker (Form F Assessor), you will oversee and complete full BAAF Form F Assessments for prospective foster carers. You will perform initial assessment visits and facilitate a minimum of six comprehensive home visits, ensuring each is at least 2 hours long. You be responsible for conducting interviews with applicants and their families, verifying backgrounds, reviewing previous fostering experiences, and evaluating strengths and weaknesses relating to parenting capacity. You will compile detailed reports, chronologies, and Safe Caring Plans for submission to the Cardiff Children’s Services Panel. The role requires the ability to critically analyze and present findings, with all gathered information culminating in recommendations regarding children to be placed. Furthermore, you need to ensure compliance with health and safety guidelines, adhere to PPE standards, and maintain regular communication with your designated supervisor. Payment is contingent on the completed assessments and subsequent panel recommendations, with fees structured per task and pre-agreed rates for time and travel.
