An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 6 urology specialist nurse to join an empowered, skilled urological nursing team that works across both acute hospital sites, Royal Stoke & County Hospital.
This post will provide a holistic specialist nursing service for both benign and cancer patients.
The post holder will be an empowered and valued member of the multi-disciplinary team.
The ability to apply specialist knowledge across a range of procedures is essential as analytical and judgemental skills will require interpreting acute and other conditions, making comparisons of a range of actions required to optimise patient outcomes and where necessary liaising with other healthcare professionals to provide the best possible specialist care for urological patients.
This role will require planning and organising straightforward and at times complex activities, organising own time and that of other members of the multidisciplinary nursing team.
Self-delivered or delegated tasks will reflect quality, education, specialist clinical knowledge and skills, holding the enhanced patient experience at the centre of care delivery, whilst building the successful applicant's professional portfolio.
This diverse role will challenge communication skills, embrace relevant evidence-based practice interwoven within the framework of the governance standard.

Responsibilities:
* Work within urology nurse led specialist teams, both hospital sites, in and out of hours within the acute hospital settings.
* Run protocol driven urology nurse led services.
* Work alongside on call urology multidisciplinary team when required.
* Populate timely electronic record keeping/ E Discharge.
* Administer intravesical treatments (Benign & Cancer).
* Interpret clinical and sensitive patient information.
* Utilise urological clinical skills.
* Teach and empower other health care professionals.
* Request pertinent investigations that help inform diagnosis and patient surveillance pathways.
* Maintain accurate electronic/paper record keeping.
* Engage and utilise electronic IT platforms to enhance timely patient outcomes.
* Utilise electronic data such as Somerset cancer registry.
* Active member of urological multi-disciplinary team.
* Implement and contribute to the writing of standard operational policies and attend governance meetings.
* Remain responsible for producing and updating patient information.
* Responsible for holistic needs assessment.
* Respond to departmental ongoing developments.
* Work unsupervised but managed.
* Remain responsible for self and delegated tasks.
* Recognise when help and guidance is required.
* Direct patient care.
* Participate in research and clinical trials.
