Workshop Engineer/ Fitter
Permanent - Full Time position
Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week
8:30am - 5pm
Salary: in the region of £40,000
Our client has been providing first-class solutions for many years. It's the standards that are set in the workshop that go a long way to ensuring customer satisfaction at the other end.
We are looking for qualified and time-served HGV Technicians who can demonstrate a thorough understanding of commercial vehicle mechanical dynamics.
You can expect to be situated in a positive and vibrant working environment where your efforts will be rewarded. A skills shortage can be trained by way of upskilling. What cannot be trained, however, is the right attitude and the desire to give your clients a first-class service.
You will be carrying out inspections to a varied and diverse fleet.
You could be working on main dealer heavy goods vehicles (HGVs), refuse collection vehicles, GSE (Ground Support Equipment), Roll On-Roll Off, Plant, road sweepers, hook loaders, Agricultural kit, light commercials (vans), trailers, and tippers.
The type of work you can expect to be carrying out includes (but is not limited to):
1. Routine (and preventative) maintenance
2. MOT preparation
3. Scheduled servicing to DVA standards
4. 6 (or 8) weekly inspections
5. Correction of running defects
6. Chassis and fabrication work
7. Hydraulics and pneumatics
8. Improvement of vehicle standards
9. Electrical and wiring inspections and corrections
Minimum Requirements:
Ideally, you will be fully qualified (City & Guilds), NVQ or equivalent. Additional accreditations such as IRTEC would be desirable, as would a HGV Class 1 licence.
