Teaching Assistant (SEN) - Supporting Pupils with Complex Needs

Join our dedicated team in East Leeds, supporting children with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD) in schools across areas such as Seacroft, Cross Gates, and Garforth.
We are seeking a committed Teaching Assistant to work within a busy, inclusive school, with the flexibility to support other local schools based on your availability.
Responsibilities
In this rewarding role, you will play a key part in enhancing the lives of young learners with complex needs by:
- Building strong relationships with pupils, providing the encouragement and care they need to thrive.
- Delivering tailored 1:1 and small group support to meet individual learning and personal care needs.
- Assisting with personal care, feeding, and mobility support.
- Engaging pupils in sensory activities, including hydrotherapy and sensory room experiences.
- Collaborating with teachers and staff to implement personalised learning and support plans.
- Using specialist equipment to help pupils engage in learning and daily activities.
- Monitoring progress and contributing to the adaptation of support strategies as needed.
Who We're Looking For
We welcome applications from individuals who:
- Have experience supporting children or young people with PMLD or other complex needs.
- Are familiar with sensory activities, such as hydrotherapy or sensory rooms, and their role in supporting learning.
- Are confident in delivering hands-on support, including personal care, feeding, and mobility assistance.
- Possess excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills to aid pupil engagement.
- Are flexible and willing to work across various schools in East Leeds and the surrounding areas.
Requirements
- A valid Child and Adult DBS certificate (we can assist with obtaining this if required).
- Previous experience in SEN or care settings is highly desirable.
- Relevant qualifications, such as a Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant certificate, or familiarity with assistive technology, are advantageous.
- Training in areas such as moving and handling, hoisting, or first aid is beneficial.

All applicants must meet the necessary qualifications and training for this role. Pay rates quoted include 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This position is temporary, with the potential for a permanent role based on performance.
