Responsibilities
The GE Vernova Solar and Storage Solutions business is expanding, developing new technology, and adding customers. The Senior Customer Project Engineer – Energy Storage will support projects using EPC or EEP contracts.
Roles and Responsibilities
The Senior Energy Storage Customer Project Engineer manages all aspects of energy storage system design for assigned projects, including:
* Leading and coordinating all technical aspects of balance of plant, developing drawings, schematics, layouts, relay protection, and control requirements.
* Supporting proposal phases with estimations, design reviews, technical specifications, and vendor quotations.
* Directing engineers and designers, writing equipment specifications, evaluating vendor quotations, and managing technical scopes.
* Serving as the main technical contact for customers and project managers, overseeing commissioning, and ensuring project specifications are met within budget and schedule.
Additionally, the role involves defining processes, performing root cause analyses, supporting quality initiatives, and ensuring standardization.
Required Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Engineering (BSEE preferred)
* Extensive experience with substation or energy storage project design, or a related master's degree with strong engineering background.
* Knowledge of design calculations, system sizing, and protection systems.
* Effective communication skills, leadership ability, and team accountability.
* Willingness to travel up to 20%, domestically and internationally, for project needs.
Desired Characteristics
* Familiarity with standards like G99, CDM, and others.
* Chartered Engineer registration preferred.
* Experience with IEEE or IEC standards, field testing, troubleshooting, and power equipment operation.
* Ability to develop standards and demonstrate strong customer presence and project management skills.
