SEN Teaching Assistant – Secondary School in Tameside Support Students with Special Educational Needs in a Meaningful Way Do you have a passion for working with students who have special educational needs (SEN)? We’re looking for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a secondary school in Tameside. In this role, you will be providing vital support to students with a range of SEN, helping them overcome challenges and succeed both academically and socially. Key Responsibilities: Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with special educational needs, enabling them to access the curriculum and engage with their learning. Assist in implementing individualised education plans (IEPs) and other strategies to support students’ needs. Help students with personal care tasks when necessary, providing them with a sense of independence and dignity. Offer emotional support to students, building their confidence and ensuring they feel comfortable in their learning environment. Work closely with the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) and other staff members to monitor student progress and ensure appropriate interventions are in place. Encourage positive behaviour and promote social and emotional development, using tailored approaches to meet individual needs. Support students in extracurricular activities, helping them to develop skills outside of the classroom. Ideal Candidate: Experience working with students who have SEN, particularly in a secondary school setting, is preferred. A caring, patient, and empathetic nature, with a genuine desire to help students achieve their potential. Strong communication skills, with the ability to work closely with teachers, support staff, and parents. A proactive approach, able to adapt to different student needs and provide tailored support.
