Job Description Vice President – Communications, ET&S Fulltime King’s Place, London / Hybrid What you will be doing An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Vice President – Communications, ET&S, within the Engineering, Technology & Safety (ET&S) function of Rolls-Royce, based in King’s Place, London. As a Vice President – Communications, ET&S, you will lead the development of strategies that enable Rolls-Royce ET&S to build employee engagement and buy-in to its purpose, strategy and behaviours. You will support campaigns to ensure we are getting the credit and traction externally for progress and achievements being made by ET&S. You will also Partner with key leaders in ET&S to plan employee engagement strategy in support of performance priorities and ongoing transformation change programme – motivating and mobilizing employees through the use compelling content and change management practices. Deliver expert advice and support to Group Director of Engineering, Technology and Safety and ET&S leadership team, helping them improve their overall communications and leadership impact. Reduced tactical work, focus on select engagement campaigns, prioritising those that overtly align with Rolls-Royce strategic direction and annual Communications strategy. Responsibilities You will report to the SVP Internal Communications. You will also work together with the SVP External Communications Civil & ET&S to support the delivery of the Business Capability strategy. You will act as a business partner to advise leadership on reputational opportunities and potential issues. You will lead compelling campaigns that engage employees, drive belief in our strategy and builds trust in leadership with the support and collaboration of other Communications business partners including the VP Events and VP Channel and Content who maintain our ‘owned’ global communication platforms. Strategy and planning : Use listening and insight to shape external stakeholder and employee engagement strategy to drive required business performance and desired culture change. Identify opportunities to reduce tactical or repeatable requests. Work in close partnership with the People Team and Communications Leadership to identify opportunities and anticipate issues. Expert counsel to leaders : Provide strategic and informed counsel to the executive level leaders based on experience, industry-best practice and business needs to build their capabilities as effective communicators. Communications delivery : Support development of narrative to reflect new ET&S business capability service offer develops throughout multi-year change programme to embed new ways of working. Commission compelling content for use across internal and external channels. Work closely with the ET&S Chief of Staff, VP Content and Channels or agency partners to create an appropriate cadence of communications reaching both office-based and operational audiences. Employee engagement activity : Recommend interventions to drive employee understanding and commitment to RR business priorities to become a high-performing, competitive, resilient and growing business. Support business capability programmes which foster a culture of high performance, care and belonging. Leverage key moments and milestones with external audiences to influence belief in our strategy, positive reputation and employer of choice. Team leadership (informal): Collaborate across geographic and operational boundaries whilst finding opportunities for grow, learn and develop. Lead by example by being more strategic in our activities, more commercial in our thinking and more integrated in our approach. Reinforce one Rolls-Royce mindset when working with the Communications Team leveraging talent within Channel and Content, Events and External Communications to deliver integrated campaigns. Crisis communications: Stay abreast of industry and divisional environment, in preparedness for any eventuality. Coordinate with SVP External Communications Civil & ET&S and crisis response teams to provide guidance to leadership or site representatives to respond promptly and appropriately e.g., during times of crisis, managing sensitive people or potential employee relations issues. Collaborative approach and proven track record of excellent teamwork with senior peers. Capability to build, lead and engage high-performing teams (scrums) – demonstrating high degree of integrity and transparency in leadership style.
