PPA Teacher - Cover Teacher - Speech and Language – Oxted
The school is based in Oxted and provides life-changing education and therapy to students aged 7-19 with language disorders, including Developmental Language Disorder (DLD). They are at the forefront of global research and training in the field of speech and language disabilities. The students’ needs include Autism, Downs Syndrome, and communication needs, requiring high levels of care and support.
Students study a balanced and differentiated curriculum, incorporating the requirements of their chosen vocational courses as well as Maths, English, and PSHCE qualifications. These are highly modified in language content and presentation to ensure our students’ significant language needs are met.

Job Summary
The school is looking for a PPA Teacher/general cover teacher and they are happy to consider teachers making a transition from mainstream education.
Key Responsibilities
1. Teach in a specialist school for speech, language, and communication needs.
2. Manage classes ranging from 6-8 in size with a focus on implementing effective communication techniques.
3. Utilize therapy rooms and designated areas for specialist support from a range of therapists including SALTs, occupational therapists, psychologists, and counsellors.
4. Implement specialist communication methods such as Makaton and PECS.
5. Focus on preparation for GCSE subjects and building a curriculum that works for individual needs.
6. Work with a senior teaching assistant and 2-3 additional LSAs in your class for support.
Qualifications
QTS is needed for the role, but the school would consider unqualified teachers if you have relevant experience.
Start Date: April 25
Salary: £150 - 220 per day
