We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced, motivated, passionate and enthusiastic nurse wishing to put into practice their leadership skills as a Band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse within Ward 11. Previous acute medical experience is essential.
The successful candidate must have a proven ability in supervising, managing and controlling the activities of a department in an efficient and effective manner. This will involve the assessment and implementation of appropriate care for new and current patients whilst ensuring adequate staffing levels are maintained and resources used appropriately.
Showing commitment and direction to the team as a whole, you will actively participate in the teaching, training and supervision of all grades of staff.
You must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a proactive management style, anticipating and dealing with issues constructively within the multidisciplinary team setting. You must be flexible in your approach to the role and respond appropriately to the demands of an ever-changing workload.
The successful candidate will be instrumental in supporting the Ward Manager with the continuous improvement of the department, effectively monitoring and maintaining excellent standards of care that are reflected by patient experience. You will also support the Ward Manager in the management and leadership of the ward.

Main duties of the job
1. To function as a competent clinical practitioner within their designated clinical area, delivering direct patient care whilst coordinating and overseeing nursing/theatre practice.
2. To be responsible for ensuring the delivery of clinical activities during their span of duty.
3. To ensure that there is efficient and effective utilisation of resources to deliver optimum quality care to their client group.
4. To deputise for the ward/department manager in their absence, driving forward evidence-based practice and taking responsibility for the supervision of staff and the policies and practices that operate within their clinical area.
5. To work flexibly to meet the needs of the service.
