Assist with complex data cleaningintegration and analysis of public health data. The Data Scientistwill collaborate with stakeholders subject matter experts and datastewards to ensure data projects are accurate and fulfill businessneeds for various data projects including COVID19.
Some responsibilities are but not limited to
Leverages appropriate analytic andvisualization tools (SQL R Python Tableau others) to developcomplex data cleaning integration and analysis projects. Appliesappropriate coding and statistical methodology to fulfillstakeholder requirements.
Coordinates withbusiness stakeholders and subject matter experts to definerequirements organize and lead meetings present findings solicitfeedback and establish enhancement cycles.
Communicates data project results for a variety of audiences.Builds visualizations collaborates on report writing presents tointernal and external stakeholders and pursues publication asapplicable. Audiences may include specific VDH programs VDHleadership other government agencies the general public healthcareproviders community action groups and/or academicjournals.
Builds relationships andcollaborates with diverse internal and external stakeholdersincluding subjectmatter experts data stewards and others asapplicable.
Contributes to teamdocumentation. Ensures that scripts are commented out and routineprocesses are described stepwise. Includes data cleaning stepssources filters assumptions and purposes indocumentation.
Proactively identifiesprocess database and analysis improvements. Identifies communicatesand implements innovative strategies without oversteppingprogrammatic ownership.

Bachelors Degree withcoursework in biostatistics or equivalent combination of experienceand education
Strong data analysis skills in SQL TableauR REDCap and Microsoft Excel
Willingness towork occasional weekends and holidays
Experience working collaboratively with diverse groups and projectswith defined timelines and deadlines simultaneously

Masters Degree withcoursework in biostatistics or equivalent
