Job overview
An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic person who is passionate about providing a high-quality Sexual Health service in our Chichester clinic. The successful applicant will be responsible for managing a small team of nursing and administration staff and will work with the operational group to ensure the service meets contractual expectations and key performance indicators.
As part of the multi-disciplinary team, the post holder will demonstrate excellent clinical skills, be trained in both GUM and contraception, and should also hold a LOC for implant removal and fitting. They will have experience in managing a department on a regular basis and in managing staff, with experience in recruitment, sickness management, competency, and disciplinary actions.
The post holder will uphold the values of the Trust and follow a patient-first approach to improving the quality of care for patients.
Main duties of the job
* Lead on the provision of the Integrated Sexual Health Service (ISHS) within the locality.
* Manage the nursing and administration team within the hub.
* Work with the Operational Group to ensure service design and processes meet local and national initiatives, targets, contractual expectations, and key performance indicators.
* Act as a role model for best practice, demonstrating Trust values and providing specialist knowledge and advice.
* Assess patients/clients, plan and implement care, and provide up-to-date and evidence-based information on contraception and sexual health.
* Support service-wide staff and visiting students in achieving competencies.
Person specification
Registration
* Registered Adult Nurse (General) Associate member or Diplomate of the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Health Care.
* Study to Masters level Non-medical prescribing Advanced STIF Competencies Letter of Competence for IUD (or working towards).
Qualifications
* Study at degree level or equivalent level of knowledge Nationally recognised approved CASH qualification.
* Letter of Competence for Sub Dermal Implants insertion and removal (or working towards).
* Recognised qualification in teaching and assessing/Mentorship.
* Recognised qualification in Management.
People Management
* Managing a department/service on a regular basis, including the management of staff.
* Supervision and teaching of learners/post-basic students.
* Involvement in recruitment and selection, management of sickness, disciplinary and capability as well as completing appraisals of staff.
Skills
* Highly developed skill demonstrating dexterity and precision for insertion of implants and IUD.
* Good range of skills ensuring accuracy e.g. venepuncture, POCT, wart treatment, use of a microscope.
