Working here is rewarding, busy, dynamic, diverse and fun We are very value driven here at GBRf and we really live and breathe our values: Professionalism –Support –Communication –Trust and Empowerment –Enjoyment We are always looking to add to our talented team of Resource Planners based in Doncaster to ensure the effective flow of our resources and keep things moving In this role you will play a critical part in delivering a safe and reliable train service, supporting with weekly operational planning and scheduling of activities ensuring the correct resources and skill set are in place to enable the operational teams to deliver for our valued customers. It’s essential that you are able to build strong relationships with our train-crew, you will become their scheduling partner organising their shifts, sometimes having to deliver last minute changes to their rosters so a solid working relationship is crucial for handling those ups and downs. That’s not all; transporting the traincrew to where they need to be to start their shift can be a huge logistical challenge. This role helps to alleviate the pain in the most cost effective way managing taxi costs on a week to week basis with the aim of delivering cost improvements on a monthly basis. You must be able to commit to the working hours below; Monday & Tuesday 9am to 3pm Wednesday 9am to 5pm Thursday 9am to 7pm Friday 9am to 4pm Produce cost effective rosters and diagrams that will maximise the use of resources in order to meet customer demands whilst also adhering to safety standards, legislation, policies and procedures. Build strong relationships with train-crew to facilitate the smooth running of the department. Ensuring any diagrams produced with lodge turns have been highlighted to the relevant parties. Liaise and build strong working relationships with Control to support short term planning requirements and diagrams. Liaise effectively with the rest of the Planning Team to help facilitate diagrams in other locations. Develop and adopt suitable measures to continuously improve performance and reduce costs. Roster train crew to relevant turns on a weekly basis Record all accommodation instances and lodging allowances for the Finance Department. It would be ideal to have someone with proven experience of operational resource planning however we are more than happy to train someone up into the role as long as you’re eager and willing to learn and can demonstrate the skills below; You will need exceptional communication skills, this is one of our key values at GB Railfreight, our transparency is valued by our colleagues and customers alike. Organisational and analytical skills with a keen eye for detail are a must and you will need to be a confident problem solver. This will be a fast-paced role you’ll have to be able to spin plates and remain calm under pressure whilst managing a busy workload and working to deadlines. Excellent IT skills are essential and an understanding of the railway industry and geographical railway knowledge would be a nice to have but can be trained.
