Environmental Health Officer
We're looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Environmental Health Officer to help protect and improve the well-being of Southampton's residents. If you're committed to making a difference, this is the perfect opportunity for you!
Salary: £29.59/hour + shift allowance
Duration: 3 Months
Location: Southampton
Shift patterns: 7:30 to 4:00 pm (one week per month Monday-Friday 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm / Saturday 8:00 am to 4:00 pm) for a total of 37 hours/week. Possibility of working from home.
Your responsibilities will include:
1. Conducting surveys, investigations, and inspections, preparing reports, legal notices, and correspondence.
2. Reviewing development proposals, providing advice, and taking appropriate action.
3. Staying updated on current legislation, policies, and new developments, ensuring compliance and undergoing relevant training.
4. Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to provide coordinated services and formulate policies.
5. Assisting with promotional and educational activities, and ongoing studies to improve Porth Health Service performance.
The ideal candidate will have:
1. EHORB Certificate.
2. Strong knowledge of Environmental Health legislation and best practices to ensure compliance with statutory duties.
3. Experience in Porth Health work is preferable - some training will be given.
4. Experience with formal enforcement actions, including prosecutions, adhering to council policies.
5. Excellent customer care skills, handling complex issues to deliver positive experiences.
6. Team player with proven ability to support and contribute to team objectives.
7. Strong organisational skills, capable of prioritising workloads and meeting deadlines.
8. Effective communicator, able to influence and persuade at all levels, both verbally and in writing.
