The starting salary for this role will usually be at the bottom of the salary range and will be pro-rata if the working hours are less than full time.
The Role & Key Responsibilities
The Surrey Workforce Planning and Development Team are seeking confident and capable Workforce Planning and Development (WFPD) Advisors on a permanent basis.
This is a critical and highly visible role, with excellent opportunities to engage and build credible relations with a diverse range of stakeholders and Senior Management Teams, across Surrey & Sussex Police.
As a WFPD Advisor you will hold a portfolio and provide an insight to resourcing at force and local levels. You will provide expert advice and offer solutions to resourcing issues whilst working both independently and collaboratively as part of a team. Due to this being a new role within the People Services re-structure, there are areas and processes to review, develop and introduce of which you will be pivotal in driving this forward as part of the team.
We are seeking individuals who have an inquisitive approach to their work and the ability to produce, analyse and present resourcing and capability reports. Successful candidates will build robust stakeholder networks to understand resourcing requirements, risks, issues, and operational impact. You will use this network to gain an operational perspective to feed into the wider Resourcing and Development team and enhance our analysis of data, enabling effective and accurate resourcing decisions at a strategic level.
Skills & Experience
As a WFPD advisor, you will be allocated areas of the business of which you will be required to take ownership and be accountable for the tactical elements of Workforce Planning and Development. This will include both Surrey and collaborated areas of the Forces (Surrey & Sussex).
A strong element of problem solving will be required whilst working through collaborated reporting, with the ability to understand processes and policies which may differ across both Forces. This is a unique role, due to the requirement to be able to work independently through the tactical elements of your portfolio, but also act as a valuable member of the WFPD team, ensuring strong communication with your WFPD colleagues. It is important to ensure the team are sighted on issues, risks, trends that may also affect their portfolio, whilst providing consistent data sets in line with the corporate Force reporting.
There may also be a requirement to cover other portfolios in the absence of colleagues, so flexibility and openness within the team is essential. The Workforce Planning and Development team will work in an agile nature that will include the opportunity to work from home but you will also be required to travel and have a presence within divisions and work at Headquarters (Mount Browne, Guildford) on a weekly basis. You will be able to apply flexibility to your working day in line with meetings and demand.
You will be a confident communicator with the ability to connect and influence at a senior level.
You will be self-motivated and be able to take ownership of a business area and be able to work collaboratively across the team.
You must be adaptable to change and be flexible with workloads, efficiently prioritising your own workload, whilst being able to manage conflicting demands.
We are looking for you to be innovative and take ownership of any projects and specific work relating to your business area.
You will be able to problem solve and provide solutions to enable your business area to move forward and work to the forces priorities.
You will have excellent analytical skills with the ability to draw insight using various tools across WFPD.
You will be confident in using various systems and software, with the ability to learn and assist with the development of new systems as they progress.
