We have a permanent and full-time position available as Postal Operations Team Leader which oversees the smooth running of the postal and record retrieval services for Cambridgeshire County Council. The role will line manage a small team supporting the delivery of the postal and record retrieval services as well as engaging with colleagues across the council to ensure that the service is delivered in the most efficient and cost-effective manner whilst embracing new technologies and ensuring our vision of being a greener Cambridgeshire.
This role is based in Huntingdon and the ability to travel to other locations would be advantageous. We also offer flexible working arrangements and would be happy to discuss these with applicants.

What will you be doing?
On a daily basis you will oversee the smooth running of the postal and record retrieval services. This will include monitoring the workload of the team and ensuring that postal runs are achieved on-time and in a safe manner. This will also include liaising with our contracted postal providers with regards to postal collections and software used for the delivery of postal services. You will line manage a small team and will be responsible for conducting meaningful 1-1s, setting outcomes and identifying training opportunities where these are required.
You will also act as an ambassador for embracing technology in relation to mail and will work with colleagues across the Council to encourage the most efficient, green and cost-effective mail delivery. This will include ensuring that processes such as electronic scanning of post are working in an effective manner.
You will act as a support to the Corporate Business Manager with regards to budget management of the postal and record retrieval budgets, as well as acting as a support during procurement processes.
About you
We are looking for someone who is organised and has the ability to plan the workload of a team and oversee a smooth service delivery. In addition, we are looking for someone who has strong communication skills and can demonstrate experience of communicating with a range of colleagues and stakeholders across an organisation. Strong IT skills and the ability to critically review processes identifying best value and efficiencies is also required. In addition, excellent customer service that can be applied both internally and externally is essential.
An understanding of public sector services, especially within a Local Authority, would be advantageous although not essential.
Training and guidance will be provided to the preferred candidate through an induction plan.
