Enthusiastic Personal Assistant Required - Skipton - Part Time - BD23
Recruiting an enthusiastic Personal Assistant for my son Teddy, 5, who is autistic with delayed speech & language and sensory processing difficulties. He attends a specialist provision and is making wonderful progress there.
Teddy has a special interest in dinosaurs and animals, and he needs to be active. Therefore, he enjoys going to places that meet his need for movement such as gymnastics, soft play, trampolining, parks, playgrounds, and swimming.
Teddy is a happy, friendly little boy who is a joy to be around.
We can be flexible with hours, such as 2-3 hours after school twice a week or one full day on the weekend, although consistency is preferable. More structure would be required during the school holidays so that I can work, but this can be mutually agreed.
Full DBS will be required and two references.
The Role
1. Taking Teddy into the community to access activities and promote independence.
2. Support/prompting general care – toileting, handwashing etc., and ensuring continual safety.
3. Location: Skipton.
4. Hours: Flexible - 6 hours a week during term time and 15 hours a week during the holidays (with additional hours as/when mutually agreed).
5. Rate of Pay: £12 per hour.
The Ideal Candidate
1. Previous experience in disability, healthcare, or social care.
2. Clean driving licence and access to a vehicle.
3. Professional: Positive, confident, and proactive.
4. Friendly and Caring: Naturally empathetic and patient, with a desire to make a meaningful difference.
5. Adaptable and Resourceful: Quick to think on your feet.
6. Adventurous and Energetic: Enthusiastic about Teddy’s passions, with a sense of humour and a “can-do” attitude.
