Principal Mechanical Engineer - Building Services
Vertical Recruitment are working closely with a thriving multidisciplinary consultancy, their projects cover all construction sectors throughout the UK and overseas, from individual dwellings to city master planning projects!
They have recently opened a new office in Manchester city centre, with a modern, light and unique space! They are building their Mechanical Engineering team in the Manchester office and looking for a driven and experienced Principal Mechanical Engineer.
Reporting to the Director you will support with the delivery and project management of the Mechanical Services Design on assigned projects, whilst taking the lead providing M&E representation. You will be responsible for maintaining and improving the quality and efficiency of the Mechanical Services design and post contract implementation whilst supporting junior engineers and assisting with their personal development.
You will have strong technical and communication skills and be confident in representing them through direct contact with clients and other design team members.
Other key responsibilities include;
* Taking the lead on multiple projects
* Managing the production of scheme design drawings
* Leading on the development of mechanical services strategies
* Preparing M&E specifications including environmental strategies.
* Assisting in the preparation of elemental M&E cost plans.
* Inputting to the Stage 2 and 3 MEP Reports
* Managing post contract stage of projects, including flow of information to maintain propose contract works programme.
* Monitoring Mechanical Installation works against Mechanical Services Design.
* Assisting Project QS in cost control
* Establishing project briefs/fees/timescales and ensure junior personnel are aware
* Managing mechanical engineering output to ensure that quality criteria are met
* Providing technical support to junior engineers and technicians
* Preparing Mechanical Services Scheme Design proposals
About you:
* Degree qualified and ideally working towards chartered status.
* Be able to demonstrate proven project experience
* Strong record in project management, delivery, and quality.
* People skills and demonstrable management and client facing skills.
* Capable of working with own initiative to provide solutions to engineering and management challenges
* Hold a valid UK Driving Licence(preferable)
* Be prepared to travel to meetings and projects, as necessary. Generally local to contracted office, but occasional work in other parts of UK and Europe or overseas that may necessitate an overnight stay
* Ideally with experience in the use of all necessary design software not limited to those identified below CAD, Revit, Bluebeam
