The role
Join us as an Auxiliary Technician and help drive SSEN Transmission's goals for Net Zero!
Utilising their mechanical expertise our Auxiliary Technicians play a key role in keeping our Substation Auxiliary systems running, reducing any downtime and maintaining the integrity of the electrical grid.
You will
- Inspect, operate and maintain Transmission Substation Auxiliary services such as Standby Generator sets, Batteries and Low Voltage Alternating Current (LVAC) assets.
- Work closely with Substation Maintenance, Operations and Maintenance Management teams to coordinate and deliver all aspects of inspection, repairs and maintenance activities.
- Take responsibility for hands-on management of a wide range of high value, Network critical electrical assets.
- Interpret and investigate various forms of inspection data from both internal and external sources, taking ownership and management for remediation, rectification and / or replacement of key components.
- Maintain accurate recording of completed work done whilst identifying and escalating any developing and emergent trends in asset defects or failures.
You have
- Strong mechanical experience and problem-solving skills within a mechanical or electrical environment.
- Mechanical qualification such as HGV mechanic, Standby Generator Technician or equivalent. Additional electrical qualifications or knowledge would also be an advantage.
- The ability to coach and mentor less experienced colleagues.
- The ability to supervise non-routine and complex tasks.
- An SVQ / NVQ in a STEM discipline or equivalent.
