About The Role:
Fantastic opportunity to earn extra income this summer, gain an insight into the inner workings of one of the UK's leading Agricultural companies and learn about the journey your morning slice of toast and bowl of cereal has made.
Each summer at Harvest (July to September) our farmer customers are at their busiest and will be combining their ripened fields of cereal crops (wheat, oats and barley) bringing these crops in ready to be sold and transported to food producers, be it flour mills within the UK and Europe for bread making or for breakfast cereals or perhaps brewing beer.
We provide our farmer customers with an on-farm sampling service to the farms located across the southern region of the UK (East and West Sussex, Kent, Wiltshire, Somerset and Dorset) and relative to each Samplers home address. The Samples will collect small bags of crop samples and return these to our laboratory in Chichester where they will be quality tested and we can ascertain their value before buying the crop to transport it on to the food producer.
The Company will provide a van, daily work schedule and sampling equipment to each Sampler as well as full instruction on how to collect and handle crop samples while on farm, adhering to our health and safety protocols.
There are some physical demands to the role, fields may need to be walked to reach crops and there could be a grain pile to scramble up to collect the quality sample we need from inside the grain pile for an accurate test result.
Samplers also need to be confident drivers and must hold a UK drivers' license and be able to plan out their daily route to collect samples in the most efficient way.
To Apply:
If you are interested in this role and would like to apply we would love to hear from you, please send us your Covering Letter and your CV.
Your Covering Letter should tell us more about you and why you feel this is the right opportunity for you this summer, we are looking for reliability and a mature approach.
You will need to hold a Full UK Drivers license.
To Note:
The role is fairly active, you will need to be able to locate farms, liaise with farmers, start early in the morning to complete your rounds and be able to drive safely throughout the day.
There is often walking to do when out on a farm to find where the crops are stored and collecting the samples properly (from the centre of a grain pile) does require some physical effort.
Finally, it could be raining, windy and muddy or it could be a lovely summers' day, in all events we still need to provide a professional sampling service for our farmers and you are representing the company.
