We are seeking to recruit a Consultant in General Adult Psychiatry to work alongside four other Consultants based in the North of the City of Birmingham. This is a full time community based post delivering care to adults over the age of 25 years.
We have made great progress in implementing the NHS England community transformation programme, with Neighbourhood Mental Health Teams in place and a move to community based offers to include access to psychological therapies, improved physical healthcare, employment support, personalised and trauma informed care, medicines management and support for self-harm and coexisting substance use.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide medical leadership, in collaboration with the Neighbourhood Mental Health Team, to redesign and reorganise the core CMHT function at Sutton CMHT to become a place-based multidisciplinary service across health and social care aligned with primary care and Voluntary Sectors.
A key responsibility will be the collaboration across services to develop strategies to provide outreach services and address unmet needs of the community.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Full GMC registration with a licence to practice
* Approved under Section 12(2) of the Mental Health Act
* MRCPsych or equivalent
* Additional qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or another relevant field
Training
* Inclusion on the Specialist Register; or within 6 months of the award of a Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training (CCST) in General Adult Psychiatry; or eligible for inclusion on the Specialist Register
* Commitment to personal programme of Continuing Professional Development.
* Broad clinical training including both inpatient and community service
Experience
* Substantial experience of psychiatry, including working with people suffering from severe mental illness, preferably in a community setting
* Experience of providing psychological and/or social interventions
* Experience of teaching and training at an undergraduate/postgraduate level
* Experience serving a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic population.
* Experience of stakeholder engagement in service delivery
* Experience of contributing to or completion of a service improvement project
Research & Audit
* Commitment to clinical audit within multi-disciplinary team.
* Completed clinically relevant audit projects
Personal Skills
* Evidence of potential for effective leadership.
* Ability to work creatively within multi-disciplinary team
* Demonstrable interest in the provision of gender sensitive mental health service
