MULTI-SKILLED MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN

Type: PERMANENT MON TO FRI 3 SHIFTS
Salary: £40K
Job Overview: Manufacturing Technicians run and maintain factory equipment and assembly processes, monitor and check the product quality and document results in strict adherence to protocols. To achieve maximum effectiveness of machinery and equipment by minimising downtime and supporting the effective operation of the PPM system.
Main Role and Responsibilities:
1. Ensure efficient production through maintenance of assets, assured technical capabilities and compliance with regulatory and company requirements.
2. Ensure products are produced exactly as intended and are free of defects.
3. Perform equipment setup, operation, equipment adjustments and minor preventative maintenance tasks to meet all standards for safety, quality and efficiency.
4. Run tests on all assemblies and equipment to test for safety and productivity before they are put into production.
5. Identify potential solutions and troubleshoot issues using technical knowledge when problems arise during testing.
6. Set up and operate different machines, running and monitoring the output of machine tools, a highly automated manufacturing cell or process.
7. Monitor the output of an assembly station.
8. Know the manufacturing process in detail, troubleshooting at an appropriate level and involving senior members of staff if/when unable to correct the problem.
9. Monitor and check product quality, identifying deviations from the norm and acting to correct them.
10. Maintain accurate and clear documentation proving that manufacturing is carried out in accordance with both internal and external quality systems or regulations.
11. Perform regular inspection, cleaning, servicing along with routine and preventative maintenance to keep equipment in good working order.
12. Keep maintenance logs for all machines or processes overseen, requiring proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet software.
13. Provide regular productivity reports and incident reports if an accident occurs.
14. Apply lean manufacturing principles to eliminate waste in the production process.
15. Ensure production area is safe to work, productive and has required inventory.
16. Ensure equipment and work floor is clean, safe and well-maintained.
17. Monitor and control processes using visual observation, process data and online testing.
18. Identify and debug problems in processes, products, equipment and work for solutions.
Skills and Attributes:
1. A time-served engineer with minimum HNC/HND qualification in an Engineering discipline is essential.
2. Excellent trouble-shooter with the ability to resolve problems effectively and within a cost-effective manner.
3. Confident decision maker who understands the commercial implications of decisions.
