This role sits within the busy finance team at the core of The SU providing support to staff and students enabling them to deliver our charitable purposes. The SU has over 150 student groups which may require financial support for their activities as well as a busy commercial area and numerous departments offering a variety of services. About the role Within this role you will look after the various income streams working closely with the commercial team, activities team and student groups. As a cashless organisation this will include event sales, online income, card transactions, customer invoicing and fundraising donations. You will also be responsible for the accounts payable function and lead on all the difference methods of payments. liaise with budget holders within the SU, as well as student groups, to ensure all transactions are authorised and processed correctly. work closely with the finance manager to ensure deadlines are adhered to for month end reporting, reconciling income and expenditure and preparing general ledger journals. About you You will be the first point of contact for our student groups should they have any questions regarding their club or societies accounts, and to external suppliers and customers for any account queries. This customer service is across multiple platforms including face to face, telephone and email and is delivered in a friendly and professional manner. The successful candidate will need to have: Experience of working in a finance related job Knowledge and experience of the accounts payable and accounts receivable functions Experience of using accounting software A working knowledge of MS Office systems including Excel, Outlook and Teams Experience and awareness of effective customer service The ability to work under pressure in order to meet deadlines and prioritise tasks effectively Excellent attention to detail Further information This is a full-time role on a fixed-term basis to cover parental leave for a period of 12 months.
