The Role As a Functional Skills Tutor at HMP High Down, you will inspire and empower learners to achieve their potential. You'll deliver lessons both in the education department and directly on the prison house blocks. With small class sizes (12-14 learners), you'll have the opportunity to focus on each individual's progress while benefiting from a supportive work environment. Key Details: Type: Permanent Salary: £30,772 - £37,059.79 per annum. Hours: 37 hours per week over 4.5 days (Monday-Thursday: 7:45 AM-4:45 PM, Friday: 7:45 AM-12:45 PM). Teaching Time: 23-26 hours weekly, with planning and marking completed on-site. Work closely with a team of six dedicated colleagues, supported by an experienced Hub Manager. Your Responsibilities: Deliver engaging lessons in Maths & English up to L1 exam level, tailored to individual learner needs. Create a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes engagement. Develop individualised learning plans and monitor learner progress. Collaborate with colleagues to support learners' success. Stay current with curriculum changes and teaching best practices. About You: Teaching qualification or willingness to achieve Level 4/5 qualification within your first year. Level 2 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy.
